Probious Visual Identity Direction

Hello everyone, Happy New Year!
So Probious is about to launch in a few weeks time and we are up to finalising the visual id stage. Here are the logos Meanwhile pitched yesterday at the workshop meeting.

The direction we decided to pursue is to focus on the box imagery. The box is the main tool which connects all designers together, and also has an element of surprise; the probe being given like a present. By altering the colours and patterns of the box, it expresses the ideas of design being transformative, experimental, expressive and unique.

Still deciding whether to go with the P or just the icon shape for the logo. Any thoughts? Next stage for us is to work on the box packaging and see how the 2 logos can be applied and what mediums would be suitable (ie stamp, stickers, gocco etc…) Stay tuned!

Probious Update

Yes we are still alive!
So we’ve finally found a direction for the branding of Probious. Here is one of the designs we pitched to Yoko on Tuesday. Geraldine and Terry can you upload yours too? 🙂

We went back to our concept of ‘Back to Basics’ playing with shapes, colour and form; the fundamentals of design . The shape is a birds eye view of a box, the probe being the main tool for this project.

The shapes reminded us of tangrams we used to play as kids. The shape and colour projects a fun and playful side, yet expresses the evolution of ideas from a single object. The shapes will change depending on the application.

At the moment we are still in the rough stages of concept and designing, but hopefully over the summer we can develop more solid designs 🙂

Meanwhile’s PARTY!!

Hello Everyone!! (who’s still reading & supporting our Meanwhile blog)

The team have been really busy with our individual major project. And the final presentation/deadline for this is coming, this wednesday morning. Everyone’s trying to get everything together for an awesome presentation.

Amid all the hectic-ness of major project, we are going to host a party! A party to celebrate Meanwhile’s honours program, as this is the last year that Meanwhile would be running.

So for all past Meanwhilers, you are all invited to our Meanwhile party!

So come down to Biero Bar this Wednesday (24 Nov 2010) at 6pm till late, and celebrate life as a Meanwhile student with us. =)

Culture Probe Name

Hello! We have finally decided on the cultural probe name:

PROBIOUS
As we were brainstorming for new words, we came up with the word Probious (Cultural probe + Curious). As humorous as it sounds, we figured that this word would fit this project best as it has a playful, science, experimental feel; which reflects what this cultural project is about. This in itself is an experiment within designers, and branding it as fun and humorous will get people excited about participating in this project. Here is a quick moodboard we set up to get a feel of this project.The images we have gathered all have a vintage feel, using half tones, primary warm tones and old school printing methods.
